I have sensitive teeth and I heard that this can be caused by corrosion from sodas. If I stop drinking soda, will my teeth rebuild the enamel or am I doomed?

Enamel has no way of regenerating. Once it is gone, it is gone.

I am doing a study based on the corrosion that different pH levels have on a finishing nail. After finishing the experiment, I noticed that the nails did not rust in pH 3,5, and 9 but only 7. Why did it rust in pH 7 and what caused the corrosion of the finishing nail?

pH 7 is the same as water… which is what normally is the cause of oxidation of iron (rust)

Are there any catalysts to speed up metal corrosion with soft drinks?

I read somewhere that it takes months for the corrosion to occur. Does anyone know which metal would corrode the fastest? And, is there some way that I can make the reaction to visibly occur in say, one week?

Elevated temperature and pressure will accelerate corrosion… also pump in oxygen to really get it going.

You can also add a second metal that has a substantially different electronegativity and you’ll get galvanic corrosion.

Add a current to the galvanic cell, and you’ll further accelerate corrosion (on one pole only).

I have been reading that you shouldn’t attach a hitch to a vehicle with corrosion, but I was wondering if there was some way to reinforce it, or something. We need to move and attach a small uhaul trailer!

Equipment was coated with marine grade paint. Bolts and nuts had severe corrosion at thread interface and at contact points with flange. Was also widespread over rest of equipment. Photos available.

Hi Ed: This sounds like a case of galvanic corrosion, an electrochemical type of corrosion, and is the result of the nuts and bolts being of a different metal to that of the main equipment. This type of corrosion is particularly rapid in sea water because movement of ions is involved in the process.
