entering corrosion protection at entrylevel need help?

just entered corrosion protection as an cathodic protection tech i understand im new in the field an understand NACE governs this industry but i know i have a great career ahead of me still have a question bout salary an how i can advance in the field from a tester to top level in this career which i think is a corrosion engineer specialist?at near 34 is possible to reach the top by hard work by 60years old

You don’ want starting salary to determine whether you want to go into the field.

The corrosion experts I have dealt with were mechanical engineers or chemical engineers.

Learn all you can, as soon as you decide if this is the path to take. Not only cathodic protection with anodes and electricity, but other forms of corrosion inhibiting too. This way you will have a rounded approach to corrosion problems. Also behavior of different metals when exposed to corrosive environments will be something to study.

I am not what you would consider the top of the profession. If it is a super tech, you should easily get there within 24 years.

If you are like me, you will love your work so much you won’t want to retire at 60. I retired at 62, went to work full time doing the same thing, retired at 72, did independent consulting for a few years, and now to the same things as a volunteer with the National Park Service.

BTW, I changed careers at 47, my midlife crisis. Was never sorry.
