Testing rebuilt mower deck

I took the old rusty mower deck, cleaned it down to its bare metal, put a good layer of herculiner on the bottom and rust resistant paint on the top, resharpened the blades, and replaced the belt. Here I see if it still works, and it does, but the bed liner gave out after a few minutes.

    Well thats what I did use. What I didnt do was rub it with thinner, i just used a clean cloth to wipe it.

    well on the can it said just clean the surface, paint it, let it set for so many hours, so thats what I did.

    as scooter said, it’s all in the preparation. gotta make sure all metal is primed first, and hit it with a scotch brite pad beforehand.. then use the bedliner on it and let it sit for a while before using the deck

    my dad’s lawntractor deck was just painted with automotive paint, almost 10 years ago. most of it is still on there.

    prep and good paint will do the trick

    Hello-pulled my spindles & Wiped my under deck down with Acetone-Then Scotch bright scrubbed the whole thing.
    Primed all bare metal.Roller Coated bottom of deck. Sat for a week-grass had to grow.Looks great two years later-120X256 wooded lot. Just Brushing it on will never do it.Prep is everything.If you dont want to stand your Tractor on end and get into it, then Dont waste your time. Oh yea..Nothing stick to the bottom of my deck. lol Go Hurculiner from Manards!!!.

    on my lawn mower i used some OLD waterproof enamel spray paint for wood, its been working good for me, and the grass does not stick. give it a try…
