how do I get rid of rust?

The metal grate that goes over my fire pit is rusty. I painted it with rust paint and it looked great but then I made a fire and the rust has all come back. How do I fix this?

You need to scrub it with a wire brush and sand it to remove the rust, then paint it with a high temperature paint that can withstand the flames.

I had some rust and i used CLR it works you can get it and some places

start over wire brush it you have to prime it before painting than paint with paint that can stand high temp. such as the paint they use on car engines available at any car part store
