Help! How to repair/maintain rusty steel/concrete balcony?
A couple years back, my condo hired someone to repair our concrete balconies. He put a steel trim around the concrete floor that was visible along the sides, but not from the top or bottom, where you’d only see concrete. I found out that he "sealed" the balconies with driveway paint. Fast forward a couple years later, you can see thin lines of rust through the concrete where the steel trim is located. My neighbors are still paying for the balcony work from two years ago (I bought afterward) and are very concerned about another large scale assessment. Is there anything we can do to stop the damage from processing? How can we maintain and protect our balconies? Thanks!
That’s a very serious problem there is not easy fix here, I know of buildings with the sort of problem condemned because the concrete cancer got so bad it was cheaper to rebuild.
IMO unless everyone in your condo does a high end fix $$$$$$ you best patch your balcony to hide the rust, sell up and run!
P.S. I’m guessing that’s what the people who sold you the apartment did, sold up and ran.
