Saturday October 17, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, Warren Pietsch flies his clipped-wing Taylorcraft in a short aerobatic performance in the cold, wind, and rain, and gets taken over by his brother Kent, who is flying a comedy routine in the Jelly Belly Interstate Cadet. Following the conclusion of the comedy act, Warren returned and finished his aerobatic performance, but was given a “knock it off” call by the Airboss because of the rain coming down harder and the visibility dropping significantly. When Kent concluded his comedy routine, I called it quits for the day.

I apologize for any bad color and/or vertical lines that may or may not be in this video. Once again, I have had some camera trouble throughout the weekend. It was also very windy, but I think I did well with the camera concerning the fact that it was, for the most part, cold, rainy, and windy for the entire weekend.

If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate “version” of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation – including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve’s Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

IN THIS VIDEO, Warren Pietsch takes to the skies in his clipped-wing Taylorcraft for a short aerobatic performance, only to get interrupted by his brother Kent in the Jelly Belly Interstate Cadet, flying a comedy routine that involves Kent losing an aileron, a main wheel, and throwing out something else from the airplane. Kent did not fly the deadstick routine on Saturday because he was not scheduled to fly it AT ALL for the show. When the Super Hornet demo was absent on Friday, Kent was asked to fly an act to fill in some time, and the deadstick act was used in place of the missing Super Hornet demo, which made an appearance on Saturday.

Saturday October 17, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, Kent Pietsch flies a short aerobatic performance in the Interstate Cadet prior to shutting off the engine at 1,000 feet and performing a deadstick routine. The end result of the performance is to put the spinner of the prop in the hands of airshow announcer Rob Reider. Because of the winds, Kent was unable to do it with the airplane but was still able to put the spinner in Rob’s hands by a different method. I later learned that in the over twenty year airshow career of Kent Pietsch, this is the first time he was unable to do so. On Sunday’s show, he did fly (again, no video) the deadstick routine and came within three feet of Rob.

I apologize for any bad color and/or vertical lines that may or may not be in this video. Once again, I have had some camera trouble throughout the weekend. It was also very windy, but I think I did well with the camera concerning the fact that it was, for the most part, cold, rainy, and windy for the entire weekend.

IN THIS VIDEO, Kent and Warren Pietsch take their respective mounts in the air and fly an opposing aerobatic performance prior to Kent attempting to land his Jelly Belly Interstate Cadet on top of the Jelly Belly RV. Keep in mind of the conditions of the day when Kent makes his landing attempt and you will see just how talented Kent Pietsch is.
